Post Office : Correios (Post Offices) can be found in most of the towns. In Funchal, the central post office is located on Rua Dr João Brito Camara. The most central post office is on Avenida do Zarco. Open Mon-Fri 8.30-8, Sat 9-12.30.
Banks and Exchange: Open Monday to Friday between 8.30- 3.00, banks are found in Funchal and other larger towns.
Shopping: The shops are open Monday to Friday between 9.00-7.00 except lunch hour between 1-3 o'clock and on Saturday between 9.00-1.00. There are two shopping malls in Funchal; Madeira Shopping and Forum. These shopping malls are open between 10.00-23.00 every day.
Health: There are no health caution for Madeira. The tap water is safe However, the visitors should be aware of intense sun and sunburns.
Safe Water: Tap water is safe to drink. It often comes from mountain springs.
Drugs: Farmâcia (Chemists) are open Monday to Friday between 9.00-19.00 except lunch hour between 13-15.00. Late night duty chemists are posted in windows.
Crime: Madeira is very safe. The only incident may happen is pick pocketing. Be aware in crowded places.

Tips: Portuguese in general do not tip except a good service is received. Usually the charge is included in the bills. However, 10% for the good service including restaurants, taxis and hairdressers is recommended.
